2006 Topps Update, Brandon Phillips

Card No. UH50

Originally a 2nd-round draft selection by Montreal, Brandon Phillips had some excellent seasons for Cincinnati....Was part of the prospects package that Montreal surrendered to Cleveland to acquire Bartolo Colon in June 2002....Phillips snagged four Gold Gloves during his time in Cincy....This is Brandon's first cardboard appearance as a member of the Reds....His initial Topps card is part of the 2000 Update set....Batted .276 and collected 75 ribbies for the Reds in 2006, his first season on the banks of the Ohio.

2019 Topps, Joey Votto

Card No. 284

I'm always a sucker for on-deck circle candids, thus it's my pleasure to highlight this one from Joey Votto on the Jukebox....As of this post, Joey is 8th on the Reds all-time hit list (1,866)....He's second only to Larry Walker in career base hits by a Canadian....The 2019 Topps design offered something of a compromise for those of us who miss base cards with borders....Joey's rookie card appeared in the '08 Update series....Went 4-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored in a 6-3 win over the Cubs, 6/28/19.

1987 Topps, Dave Concepcion

Card No. 731

Among the highlights of Dave Concepcion's splendid 19-year career as a Cincinnati Red are two world championships, nine All-Star Game appearances, five Gold Gloves and two Silver Sluggers....Not too shabby!....Dave's uniform number 13 was retired by the Reds in August of 2007....That's Montreal's Herm Winningham being tagged out....Dave's rookie card was included in the 1970 set....His final Topps appearance was in 1988....Batted a cool .319 over 279 ABs for Cincy during the '87 season.

1964 Topps, Charlie Neal

Card No. 436

Charlie Neal is front and center on this confluence of greatness: the classic Reds uniform and the clean, colorful 1964 Topps design....Charlie played for the Dodgers in their final season in Brooklyn (1957) and was also a member of the expansion Mets in '62....Listed as "Charley" on four of his nine career Topps cards, including his '56 rookie card....This is Neal's final Topps card and his only one as a Red....Batted just .156 (10-64) in 34 games for Cincinnati following trade from Mets, July 1, 1963.
