Well before he blossomed into a perennial MVP candidate, J.D. Martinez cut his teeth as a part-time player for Houston....Given name is Julio Daniel....Drafted by Houston in the 20th round in 2009 out of D-II Nova Southeastern University....Was released by Houston and signed by Detroit prior to the '14 season....Martinez was also featured in the '14 Update set in Tigers garb....His rookie card appeared in the '11 Update set....Produced career highs in homers (23), RBIs (76) and average (.315) for Detroit in 2014.
